Dance Earrings: Embracing the Beauty of Jellyfish

A Minimal and Elegant Design by Yiu Hoi Lun

The Dance earrings were born out of Yiu Hoi Lun's close observation of jellyfish movement. The free-form wave pattern symbolizes the sea, while the shape represents the feminine. The designer's goal was to create a minimal and elegant design that captures the essence of both the jellyfish and womanhood.

What sets the Dance earrings apart is their ability to move. The design features an upper part that can be turned around like a translucent umbrella, while the lower part, set with brilliant cut diamonds, resembles the tentacles of a jellyfish. This unique feature allows the earrings to swing and sway with the wearer's movements, adding an element of dynamism and playfulness to the design.

The Dance earrings are crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Made from 925 silver and black plated, they showcase the designer's expertise in micro setting. The upper part of the earrings can move in 360 degrees, sparkling with diamonds, while the second part features a modern shape with micro pave setting, allowing it to swing separately.

With a length of 10 cm and a width of 2.5x2.5 cm, the Dance earrings are a statement piece that can be worn by ladies of all ages. Whether paired with an evening gown or a casual outfit, these earrings add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any ensemble.

The Dance earrings were completed in 2013 in Hong Kong, where Yiu Hoi Lun brought her vision to life. The design was the result of extensive research on the movement of jellyfish, with the aim of capturing their fluidity and grace in a piece of jewelry.

Overcoming the challenges of translating the free-form structure of jellyfish into a jewelry design, Yiu Hoi Lun successfully created a unique and captivating piece.
